Introduction

Revolutionizing the automotive industry is Modec’s master plan. The forefront of zero emission car, Modec is definitely conquering the world of electric vehicles and they are not gonna stop until they reached their target. Founded in 2004, Modec is a British manufacturer who is backing a world class team of automotive engineers to outgrow their competitors. Specializing in commercial vehicles in the N2 category, Modec is leading the pack by taking automotive industry to a higher level. This can only be achieve by using the latest technology and incorporate it to their design. And speaking of N2 or widely known as vehicles that weighs up to 12,000 kg (26,455 lb), Modec is extremely serious when it comes on creating highly-specialized N2 cars that are expertly engineered to perfection.

But who is Modec anyway? Well, the brain behind the company’s operation is Jamie Borwick. Together with his core team of automotive specialist they came up with the iconic TX1 London Taxi. Led by Jevon Thorpe designer of the TX1 London taxi, the eMercury project commenced in 2002 which received a lot of good reviews. Not only that, they even introduced the LEAN manufacturing techniques to Bentley. By 2004 the company designed 3 more eMercury prototypes; the conventional lead-acid battery powered, another model is the one that utilizes high energy molten salt battery placed in a removable cassette between the chassis rails and a hybrid vehicle that uses a nickel metal hydride battery. Now the company is growing rapidly with over 70 highly qualified employees, working together to create easy access urban vehicles.

Modec’s compelling approach to their electric cars as an alternative option for a greener earth is highly commendable. Most of their vehicles are combination of logistical advantage with environment approach as well as cost-effective. In fact, the company has already earned a coveted award for Green Fleet’s “Electric Vehicle of the Year” award. The company even holds a major position in the panels and media conference events of EVS 23. They already made themselves known at the Seattle’s Clean Vehicles Now as well as in Calsart’s Hybrid Truck Users Forum. The rest of the world is extremely ecstatic to finally grace their futuristic design and creativity.

Offering a wide range of vehicles, Modec is expanding its products from drop-side and box van to chassis cab. Perfect for a job that requires a modified loading area for hauling, the chassis cab is the best option. The drop-side model is best for vehicles with a low flat loading area while the box van model provides an ample space for a 2 ton cargo hold. Special bodies are also available upon order, such as the Tipper, the Tail Lifts and the Refrigerated Box Van. All these are made available for the public in Ireland, The Netherlands, Morgan Elliot and London.

Its unique design is what makes Modec’s apart from any electric car making company. Instead of adapting to an old design Modec revolutionize a conventional battery and built a vehicle around it. Since 2007 the company has over 150 vehicles and counting. The company’s first customer is Tesco where they used the vehicle for home grocery deliveries, after that orders from different companies are keep pouring in. Companies like Stadsdeel Amsterdam Oud Zuid, FedEX, Network Rail, UK Local Autorities, Hildon Water, CESPA (Madrid), Speedy Hire, UPS and many others.

Every model is designed to perfection that comes with special features and benefits, these includes quick battery exchange, easy access walk-in cab, various chassis lengths, excellent load carrying capabilities, 15p per mile running cost, versatile chassis that allows any body types and command driving position. The Modec electric car is also good for business ads for it comes with distinctive appearance which provides an excellent “billboard” value. The EV is also low maintenance since the motor battery only comes with three moving parts. Another plus factor of this beauty is that it comes with the number zero. Yes, I am serious because all Modec models are made with zero operators’ license, zero congestion charge and finally, zero road tax.

To provide optimum performance all Modec vehicles are craftily designed with a battery cassette that is firmly placed inside the custom designed chassis. This provides the vehicle’s flexibility and to exceed the standards of its customers. Prepared to take the challenge of its customers, the full range of Modec vehicles are engineered to reduce fuel consumption and C02 emissions perfect for a demanding urban environment.
