Since the invention of electric cars in the late 1800’s many car companies are developing new age invention to improve fuel usage or even eliminate it and save our ailing planet. The idea of electric cars is the best option and Flybo is another company that takes their car making skills to the next level.

Flybo XFD-6000ZK Electric Car

This is not a go kart and definitely not a smart car, it’s a China made car that will surely raise interest for those who are looking for an electric car. This vehicle is not your ordinary looking electric car; the Flybo XFD-6000ZK is a Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV) that will surely compete with its mainstream rivals. Available only in Great Lakes Auto Sales is the single Flybo Electric Car dealership in Saginaw, Michigan.  The Flybo XFD-6000ZK Electric Car is finally available in the US and it is road-legal. Made entirely in China, the XFD-6000ZK is compact rear drive electric car that impress a lot of car lovers and manufacturers even before it debuted in the market.

According to the United States Department of Transportation the newest low-speed vehicles will fall under NEV classification. What makes NEV unique from any other cars is its ability to operate through the use of battery electric. This is what makes Flybo XFD-6000ZK fall under this category. It can be done by plugging into a standard outlet, anywhere and anytime. In fact, solar or wind power can be use to generate energy to NEV for they have the potential to run using no fossil fuel.

Categorized as a “low-speed vehicle”, the Flybo XFD-6000ZK Electric Car is federally approved street-legal vehicle under Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 500 (FMVSS 500). Described as a four wheeled motor vehicle with less 3000 pounds and a top speed of 32 to 40 km/h, the XFD-6000ZK is perfect low speed vehicle for those who wants a low maintenance car. Driving an NEV also have some street restrictions with a maximum speed limit of 35 or 45 mph (56 or 72 km/h). This is also the reason why the Flybo dealership could not sell any NEV that can go faster than 25mph even though some cars can speed up more than the required limit.  Because of this Federal Law that the speed of Flybo XFD-6000ZK is being reduced to 25mph with a driving range of 30 miles or 48 km per charge. Warranty is also included when it comes to their battery durability and it should be equipped with a lap belt, reflectors, running lights, turn signals, headlights, rear view mirrors and brake lights. All these rules are in strict compliance because there is no federal mandated safety equipment and features with NEVs which makes it hard to accommodate all NEV’s because of its unique design.

So what makes this car different from any other electric cars made in China? The answer is just simple; this rear-drive electric car is sleek in terms of its design and inventiveness. It weighs 1800 pound with a top speed of 25mph to follow the guidelines of National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). But according to Flybo the all-new XFD-6000ZK can speed up to 45 mph and can get to 75 to 150 miles per charge. Of course it really depends on its user on how far the car can go but Flybo hopes that the XFD-6000ZK can go head to head with its competition. The 110v standard household charging is what they aim for and competitive price range. Charging this vehicle will take around 8 to 10 hours before the user can fully enjoy its benefits.

Uphill climb is not advisable while using this car. Based on some user reviews this car is a little sluggish and whimpy for uphill driving. Though it is fun and cool to look at there are still some aspects of this car that need some revisions. The Flybo vehicle features (L*W*H):2608*1515*1526mm dimension with 110mm ground clearance. For those who wants to speed up this car then it can only go as far as 55km/h with two seating capacity. Battery life is recharging for 500 times (384kg battery weight) with lead-acid maintenance battery, rank-and-pinion steering system and hand/rear-wheel brake. Standard equipment includes aluminum wheels and radio/cd player, plus an option to have a disc brake for front wheels, lithium battery and heater. Another thing that buyer’s should know is that the Flybo XFD-6000ZK is not recommended for winter driving.

Though the Flybo XFD-6000ZK is the cheapest electric car in the market one should know its pros and cons before deciding to buy this vehicle. It may offer a lot advantages but it also comes with limitations because of its size and battery power. But users can always upgrade it based on their lifestyle and speed requirement.
