But it takes two to tango is what they say. The conception of these hybrid cars was a joint project of Fisker Coachbuild, LLC and Quantum Technologies in September 2007. Fisker Coachbuild provides the services of Fisker Automotive as well as its design while Quantum Techonologies will provide state of the art technological advancements. It’s a no brainer; this venture is perfect as they combined forces to create cutting edge environment friendly hybrid cars. Fisker Karma

A good Karma is always welcome. In the case of Fisker Karma, this plug-in hybrid electric car is way too awesome and way too hot to handle. Karma is first baby of Fisker Automotive that debuted at the 2008 North American Auto Show competing amongst mainstream hybrid car automakers. It was intended to be available in the market the next year after it was introduced but due to funding concerns it was moved to later date. So the launched of Karma PHEV was pushed to late 2010.

Known as the world’s first plug-in hybrid, the Fisker Karma is here to change the face of automotive industry. Gone were the days that being eco-friendly you need to sacrifice something by driving a car that doesn’t fit your taste and personality. Estimated production is 15,000 hybrids per year, quite ambitious isn’t it? But for Fisker Automotive this number is possible with the increasing alert for climate change. Valmet Automotive a Finland based manufacturer will be the sole responsible for the assembly of these cars. Outsourcing is the key for the success of this company. From its electric powertrain, manufacturing and components, Fisker Automotive took the winning approach of Mahindra Scorpio to the next level. What they do is to plan out for the design then outsource the manufacturing and after that, voila! They are out in the market to promote the finished product.

This premium green car claimed to have a total of 300 miles (483km). Well the trick is, the first 50 miles (80km) is on tailpipe-emission free electric-only charge after which a gasoline range-extending engine is working to add an additional 250 miles (403km) of range.

 Karma PHEV

Get ready to be Karmified! The all new Karma PHEV is another face of electric vehicle to be watch out for. Representing the present and future generation of Fisker cars, the Karma PHEV is set to have a public debut in the Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races. Modern and sophisticated the Karma PHEV is designed to answer the needs of consumers. Its sleek design enunciates its long hood that most designer would love to get their hands on for Fisker manages to incorporate many aspects that others would only dream of. Its design takes ingenuity which is the result of Fisker’s breakthrough chassis.

A full-size luxury sports sedan the PHEV has a seating capacity for four with a 50 mile range on a full charge. It utilizes a lithium-ion battery and a powertrain by Quantum Technology. With a 50 mile range the Karma PHEV is armed with on-board generator to turn on a 260hp Ecotec engine that is to extend its range. Travelling of town is no longer a problem, for this baby can travel as far as you can without you feeling bad about it.

Since it first introduced in Europe, initial sales will start there followed by the US and then Canada. With the price of $87,500 this car is not for the middle class buyers but with a $7,500 rebate is not bad to own one, in fact it’s one of the coolest cars in the market today literally and figuratively.
