Wrightspeed Electric Vehicle

Introduction

Electric vehicles are making a comeback same as the new and advance battery technology. We are at the dawn of electric vehicles age where the need for speed is not compromise for the need of efficiency. But not just that, we are also in the verge to make an intelligent decision in terms of choosing the right car for us. The on-going progress of hybrid and electric vehicles are making it so hard for consumers to choose the best one that leaves a lasting impression – both in the environment and on the road. With the recent developments on battery technology, Wrightspeed Inc. is one of the first automotive companies that took advantage this amazing technology. These highly advanced batteries are 4 times better than fuel-cell vehicles and 3 times the energy efficiency of the best hybrids in the market today. The vehicles ability to use energy from any given source using its existing grid is the best long-term solution to make these kinds of concept works. With these kinds of numbers there’s no other way but the electric cars direction.

A Silicon Valley based company; Wrightspeed Inc. is the company behind world’s fastest street legal electric vehicle in the market today. Headed by an electrical engineer Ian Wright, a Co-Founder of Tesla Team is the brain behind the amazing success of the company. He has a long history of building cars and a wide experience in developing highly advance network switching technology. After building Tesla’s first prototype, Ian Wright left Tesla and founded his own automotive company in January 2005. And since then, Wrightspeed Inc. is making headlines in making advance technology electric drive systems.

The company is the first to develop a unique Digital DriveSystem (DDS) to use in two market areas. The company is planning to market extreme-performance production sports car as well as medium to heavy-duty trucks – all are using the Wrightspeed state of the art DDS for both vehicles are in need for high power motors. The Wrightpeed DDS platform is a combination of outstanding and reliable system working together to improve energy efficiency and fuel consumption. The DDS features: vehicle dynamic control, user interface, generator control system, the battery system, electric motors and drive electronics, and the software control plane.

Though oil is still relatively cheap, and having batteries for a car is still expensive, Wrightspeed Inc. has found a way to make things work when oil prices will start to go up. The mass production of electric vehicles will take over the automotive industry. So by thinking in advance, Wrightspeed is developing a high performance drivesystem technology. By utilizing this remarkable property of electric drivesystem, Wrightspeed will not compromise performance and efficiency. Engineering that works is what Wrightspeed’s goal and so far by building electric vehicles that can save fuel that can open door for mass production is becoming the company’s reality.

Wrightspeed X1 Prototype

Beating Ferrari’s 360 Spider, Lamborghini Murcielago and Porsche Carrera GT is not a walk in the park. Wrightspeed’s newest prototype is hailed as the new king of the road for even a Winston Cup Car could not beat its road supremacy. The future for electric sports car is here and it’s not going anywhere but straight to glory.  By combining his knowledge about electronics and his passion for cars, Wright did the X1’s system engineering, fine-tuning of the control system and most of the prototype construction. After spending a considerable amount of time building it, the X1 is making some head turns in its test drives. People in all walks of life are loving the maker’s ingenuity and car’s performance.

The Wrightspeed first production vehicle will be a plug-in series hybrid-electric that comes in diesel engine. Fueled by biodiesel, the Wrightspeed X1 is a 50-states-legal supercar. The X1 prototype has a 170mpg equivalent in city driving, an amazing equivalent for a 1,536-pound, 300-hp electric prototype. This electric supercar is expected to outrun outturn and outperform anything in its class. An ambitious goal for the company but it is not impossible since the car already proven its worth.

The X1 prototype has already won many races as it can speed up to 0-60 acceleration – faster than almost anything on the road. This concept car will have a modified test platform based on Ariel Atom. The EV has proven its strength in countless of ways and that is extreme performance without compromising efficiency which is vital in electric driving. Though it came second to Bugatti’s Veyron that can go 8 miles per gallon, the X1 on the other hand is run by an electric battery. Based on its 50 year old founder, the prototype are soon to be in a small-production roadster. By thinking beyond the golf cart prototype, Wrightspeed has managed to deliver electric vehicles to mass market where every consumer can enjoy the benefits of an EV.

The X1 prototype focus is not just about the gas mileage, it also focuses on the car’s performance, power and its payback. Yes, you read it right the car’s payback focuses on the car’s ability to burn more gas in respect to fuel efficiency. To offer the best EV to the masses, the company needs to improve the battery technology and this is what you can in the X1 prototype. Its lithium-ion batteries combined with its high-power electric motors, the X1 is offering major benefits. These include zero oil consumption, accurate and precise control of torque and most importantly, an equivalent to 170 mpg energy efficiency. By starting with high-performance supercars Wrightspeed can gage the improvement they need to undertake to raise the bar for electric car driving and to improve driving experience.

The key to Wrightspeed success is by keeping the price down by using shelf parts for most of the X1 features. The founder is planning to make a production version of the X1 but it will still be a racecar-like design. Keeping its original prototype design, the X1 production is more practical. Wright promises to have it under $200,000 and hopes to make it available in two years time.
